As a precaution, Philips is voluntarily recalling and replacing two Foldable Hairdryer models produced between February 2006 and April 2011.
The affected products are:
Philips Salon Essential Hairdryer HP4931
Philips SalonDry Travel Hairdryer HP4940
In very rare cases the hairdryer can overheat when left plugged into the electrical connection. This poses a potential fire hazard, even when the appliance is switched off.
To confirm if your hairdryer is affected, please follow these two steps:
1. Identify the Product Type Number HP4931 or HP4940 on the appliance. This can be found printed on the hairdryer, either on the underside of the main body of the appliance, or on the side of the handle.
2. Identify the Production Code Number on the appliance. This is a four-digit number printed into the plastic of the body of the appliance under the lower right-hand corner of the product information area.
If your appliance is affected, please choose one of the following options for replacement:
If your appliance is not affected you do not need to take any further action.
