Tested for Assured Safety

In today’s fast changing world, there are many ways to show love to your baby by ensuring their safety. Moms are more informed than ever – and demanding the best for their children. Avoiding harmful chemicals, knowing exactly what you’re exposing your baby to, and making an informed choice with the guarantee of safety are not only possible, but essential for your peace of mind.

At Philips Avent, we believe that you should have perfect peace of mind when it comes to selecting a baby care product. That is why we extensively test each and every single one of our products in government approved testing labs, to ensure that no harmful substances are present, and both you and your baby aren’t just promised safety – you’re assured it.

0% BPA and BPS

BPA, or Bisphenol A, is a substance that is used in the lining of many plastic products. Studies have linked usage of BPA with obesity, attention deficit disorders, along with hormone disruption that may cause behavioural disorders, reproductive health issues, and diabetes. Infants, children and foetuses, are thought to be at increased risk due to their smaller sizes and higher absorption rates.

While the ill effects of BPA are relatively well known, the most-common substitute, BPS, or Bisphenol S may be just as bad. Just like BPA, BPS has been linked with endocrine disorders, including certain forms of cancer, heart problems, diabetes, behavioural disorders, asthma and obesity. Due to the relative lack of awareness, especially compared to BPA, many baby products still contain BPS.

While the severity of the risk is still under debate, Philips Avent believes that any amount of risk to our precious ones is too high – and that is why none of our products have any BPA or BPS whatsoever, guaranteed.

0% Latex

Latex is one of the most common types of rubber used in a variety of products – and also one of the most allergenic. Both adults and children are equally susceptible to a latex allergy and the effects are incredibly unpleasant. Itchy or watery eyes, difficulty breathing, itchy and flushed skin, hives and swelling are common symptoms, with anaphylactic shock being a possibility in severe cases.

As a lot of allergies don’t get discovered in children till they are older, it’s better not to take the risk. Choose Philips Avent products –guaranteed 100% latex free.

0% Sulphur

Sulphur is a harmful chemical; especially in the form of Sulphates. Sulphates (salts derived from sulphuric acid) are a group of commonly found substances used for degreasing and removing oils from various surfaces – including skin. They are commonly found in a number of cosmetic products including shampoos, body washes, toothpastes and soaps. They are also a proven irritant – so much so that they’re used to induce skin irritation in clinical trials of healing substances. They can be harmful as they compromise the skins protective oil layer, resulting in irritation, acne, eczema, and possibly exposing the immune system to attack. Particularly for babies and toddlers, whose skin is highly delicate, this could lead to long term problems, including atopic dermatitis or a serious infection.

It is always better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to the next generation. The only way to avoid sulphur/sulphate exposure is to select products that are guaranteed 100% Sulphur free – just like all Philips Avent products.
